What do you miss most about Miami basketball?
What I miss the most about Miami basketball is the family atmosphere. I miss being around my teammates, going to war with them and playing together.
Who do you still keep in contact with from The U?
I still keep in contact with everyone I ever played with, except for just a few. I actually created a group chat called “CaneGang” with almost everyone in the chat. One of the best things ever. We share so many memories and we’re also working on doing an annual reunion each summer.
How has your life changed since going pro?
My life has changed a lot since going pro! I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, but mostly downs as far as trying to find the right agent, or being in the right situation to help me flourish as a basketball player. But I feel with this first season in Europe playing in Slovenia, I have a legit chance to change my life.
What was the first thing you bought after receiving your first paycheck?
The first thing I bought after receiving my first check was nothing! I went straight to the bank and deposited it into my account.
What is your pregame meal like?
My pregame meal varies. I try to eat light before the game, but I might make some pasta and eat a salad.
Are there any veterans that have helped you along?
I’ve had a few veterans who have helped me along the way. Two teammates that I played with on my very first pro team in Cyprus were Dante Stiggers and Porter Troupe.
What is the difference between overseas ball and ACC basketball?
There’s a huge difference in overseas play, period, let alone just the ACC. The officiating allows a lot of physical play, and mostly every position – 1 through 5 – can shoot the ball or put the ball on the floor and create for themselves, as well as others.
What is the adjustment like living in another country?
The adjustment living in another country is tough sometimes because people may not speak English, or the food may have a different taste than you’re used to. Also, depending on available wifi, it can be tough to be able talk to friends and family back home, so the list goes on and on.
