Gak and Lykes Chosen for Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game
Incoming University of Miami freshmen Deng Gak and Chris Lykes have been chosen for the 2017 Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game, to be played at the Barclays Center on April 14.
Fellow rookie Lonnie Walker IV will play in the national game, also on April 14 at the Barclays Center. The regional game will be at 3 p.m., then the All-American game will be played at 8 p.m.
Miami is one of three schools with multiple recruits on the regional roster, as Villanova has three and Minnesota has a pair. Combined in the national and regional games, Kentucky has four commits and Villanova and Miami each have three.
At 6-foot-11, Gak is a long shot blocker who will protect the rim with his 7-foot-5-inch wingspan. He is a versatile big man who can run the floor and hit the mid-range jump shot.
Lykes is a skilled ball handler with a dynamic combination of quickness and shooting ability who can finish in traffic with contact or hit long-range threes.
Both Gak and Lykes are expected to arrive on the UM campus in time for the Summer B session of classes, which begins July 6.
