Brandon Taylor Named High School All-American

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s Brandon Taylor was named to the 2016 Track & Field News High School Boys All-America Team.

Taylor was one of five selected as an All-American in the boys’ 100 meters. A native of Friendswood, Texas, Taylor proved to be one of the top sprinters in the country and will look to continue his success on the track during his debut collegiate season in 2017.

“Some of the things that impressed me with Brandon beginning in the recruiting process were his enthusiasm, his passion and his confidence in his abilities and I thought that would be a tremendous fit for our men’s program,” Miami director of track and field/cross country Amy Deem said. “I am excited about his future in our program and I look for him to do great things as a Hurricane.”

An explosive short sprinter with range, Taylor won the 100 meters championship at the 2016 Brooks PR Invitational. Taylor also is the 2016 USATF Junior Olympic Champion in the 100 meters and won a gold medal at the 2016 World Junior Championships in the men’s 4×100 meter relay.

As a senior, Taylor was ranked No. 1 in America in the boys’ 60-meter dash with his time of 6.78. He won the 100 meters at the 2016 Texas Relays and the 60-meter dash at the Texas A&M Invitational, Carl Lewis Invitational and the McNeese Invitational.
