@CanesVB Hosting Georgia Tech and Clemson

CORAL GABLES. Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team will host its final two matches of the regular season this week.

The Hurricanes (14-16, 8-10 ACC) return home to face Georgia Tech (23-7, 14-4 ACC) at 7 p.m., on Wednesday and welcomes Clemson (6-24, 1-17 ACC) for the season finale at noon on Friday. Both matches will air live on ACC Network Extra.

ACC Player of the Year candidate Olga Strantzali leads the Hurricanes into the final week of the season with some of the most impressive stats in the conference. The junior leads the ACC and ranks seventh in the NCAA with 4.77 kills per set.

Strantzali, who tallied her 1,000th career collegiate kill earlier this year, lead the Hurricanes with 544 kills on the season. She also is tops in the ACC with 0.40 service aces per set and her 5.40 points per set lead the ACC and rank eighth nationally.

Anna Haak and Kolby Bird are a dynamic pair of sophomores for Miami, ranking second and third, respectively, on the team in kills. Haak, who has 362 kills on the year, set a new career-high with 22 kills last Sunday at Duke.

Bird is an all-around player that helps the Canes in a variety of areas. Her 178 kills are third on the team, while she is third with 19 service aces and second with 68 total blocks.

The Hurricanes feature a trio of talented middle blockers led by sophomore Lucia Pampana, who leads the team with a .287 hitting percentage and 102 total blocks. Freshman Madison Dill has surged late in the year, while junior Sakile Simmons ranks third on the team with 61 blocks and has 80 matches of experience.

Hannah Sorenson ranks fourth in the ACC and 40th in the NCAA with 10.79 assists per set. The freshman has dished out at least 25 assists in all 21 matches she has played this season, including a trio of performances with 60+ assists.

Sylvia Hernandez is Miami’s libero and the junior leads the Hurricanes with 379 digs and ranks second on the team with 21 service aces.

Freshman Sara Duque has been Miami’s primary defensive specialist this season, appearing in 23 matches, while fellow freshman Carly Davey, sophomore Codi Lee and juniors Haley Templeton, Brooke McDermott and Alyssa Basdavanos have also contributed throughout the season for Miami.
