Miami to Face Princeton in Dual Meet Friday at 1 PM
CORALGABLES, Fla. — For the second straight season, the Miami Hurricanes swimming & diving team will host the Princeton Tigers in a November dual meet.
Miami and Princeton will battle Friday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Whitten University Center Pool with free admission for all fans. The meet takes place during the University of Miami 2016 Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.
The Hurricanes topped the Tigers 156-144 in last year’s head-to-head matchup, emerging victorious against the then-reigning Ivy League champions. Miami won 11 of 15 total events during last year’s competition, including a sweep of the top three positions in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Coming off a trip to Notre Dame, Ind., where Miami competed in a quad meet against the host Fighting Irish, Purdue and Rutgers on Nov. 4, the Hurricanes will look to continue their early season momentum.
The Canes, who earned a win over the Scarlet Knights, look to remain unbeaten at home in the early fall schedule; Miami topped FIU 161-101 in its home opener on Oct. 1.
Miami enjoyed a number of strong performances in the lanes and on the boards in its trip to Notre Dame. Senior Angela Algee was among the top point-scorers, finishing first in the 100 fly (54.53) and fifth in the 200 fly (2:20.28). Freshman swimmer Manon Viguier has also been an early contributor, and finished sixth in the 200 free (1:52.26) and third in the 50 free (23.50) against tough competition.
Junior diver Wally Layland took first in the 3-meter (325.30) while sophomore Marcela Maric finished third in the 1-meter (280.50).
Following its meet with the Tigers, the Hurricanes swimmers will compete in the NC State Invite in Greensboro, N.C (Nov. 17-19) while the divers will make the trip to Indianapolis for the IUPUI Invite (Nov. 18-20).
