@CanesFutbol Captain's Corner: Nov. 19, 2015
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The captains of the University of Miami soccer team for the 2015 season are writing a blog for HurricaneSports.com this year called Captain’s Corner.
With Miami’s 2015-16 season in the books, five seniors have wrapped up their collegiate soccer careers. Thursday, midfielder/defender Natalie Moik, who is among that group of five, looks back on her time playing for the Hurricanes . . .
Hello, Canes fans! Unbelievable—our season is over and therefore my college soccer career has come to an end as well. This season had its ups and downs with many tough, close games. Unfortunately, we did not get the results we had hoped for. However, I am very proud of this team. We were a young team with impressive resiliency and we showed that we were able to compete with the best teams in the country.
Our last home game, which is traditionally our senior night, was extremely emotional, knowing it would be our last game as Miami Hurricanes. I want to thank our coaches and teammates for making this night very special and memorable.
This fall was not only my last semester playing soccer at The U, but it is also my last semester attending the University, since I am graduating in December. It was a privilege to attend the University of Miami and to be a part of the women’s soccer team. I am truly thankful for the opportunities I got here and I want to thank everyone who made this chapter of my life unforgettable for me.
I have learned so much from playing soccer and from the people I was surrounded by throughout my time here. Thank you to our coaching stuff for allowing me to be part of this program and helping me grow on and off the field. I have never experienced more laughter, growth, soreness and aches than I have throughout my time as a student-athlete. A special thank you also goes out to my teammates for being a great group of girls who made my experience here very enjoyable. I cannot wait to see what you guys will achieve together in the next few years.
My journey as a student-athlete would not have been possible without the amazing support of my parents, who I want to thank as well. They watched me grow up on the soccer field and no destination has ever been too far for them to come see me play.
As hard as it is to hang up the Hurricanes jersey, I will always cherish the memories I made here.
