Monroe Releases 2015 Soccer Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head soccer coach Mary-Frances Monroe Sunday released the team’s 2015 fall schedule, which features seven teams that qualified for the NCAA postseason in 2014.

“We’re very excited about the release of the schedule,” Monroe said. “We think it provides us an opportunity to compete with the best week in and week out.”

After two preseason exhibitions, Miami will open its regular season at the Charleston Nike Classic in South Carolina for matches against College of Charleston (Aug. 21) and a neutral-site matchup against Texas (Aug. 23). A home weekend featuring Florida (Aug. 27) and UCF (Aug. 30), both NCAA tournament teams a year ago, headline an eight-match Cobb Stadium slate.

Other nonconference contests include tilts at FAU (Sept. 4), at Jacksonville (Sept. 6) and at FGCU (Sept. 11), as well as the team’s final match at home against UNF (Sept. 13) before ACC play begins.

“Our nonconference opponents will give us a great opportunity to compete and prepare for the ACC, the most competitive league in the country,” Monroe said.

The Hurricanes have a 10-game conference schedule, beginning with road matches against Wake Forest (Sept. 18) and Louisville (Sept. 24). A four-match homestand consists of Clemson (Sept. 27), Notre Dame (Oct. 2), Duke (Oct. 8) and NC State (Oct. 11).

Miami then hits the road for matches against Virginia Tech (Oct. 17), Syracuse (Oct. 22) and Boston College (Oct. 25) before returning home to wrap up its regular season against North Carolina (Oct. 31) on Senior Day.
