#ThrowdownThursday: Jekiri Flushes Illinois
As you might have heard, the Canes wil be heading to Nebraska this coming season for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. In honor of yesterday’s announcement, today’s throwdown is from this past season’s Challenge game against Illinois.
If you don’t think point guard play has anything to do with dunks, you are mistaken. With a slight hesitation move to his left, Angel leaves his defender Malcolm Hill stranded on an island behind the three-point line. Giving the Illinois center Nnanna Egwu an option: step up and guard Angel or sit back and defend the pass to Tonye Jekiri.
Nnanna Egwu’s final answer: guarding Angel. With Egwu preoccupied with Rodriguez, Jekiri’s path to basket was wide open as four Illinois defenders watched him flush the dunk. (Watch Davon jump up as if somebody set off a firecracker under his chair.)
