#ThrowdownThursday: Sheldon Skies Over Cuse

#ThrowdownThursday is quickly becoming “Sheldon’s Slam Show”—and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. (Especially since he’s been doing this dunking thing since high school.)

Let’s set the table for this slam: up three with just over six minutes to go in a crucial ACC road game, the Canes were in need of basket. In these tense situations, coaches will tend to lean on a single player to get that basket, relying heavily on isolation. But, Coach L leaned on the dynamic duo of Angel Rodriguez and Sheldon McClellan. Angel drove hard down the lane, decoying his pass as a shot which caused four Cuse defenders to collapse. This opened up a back door cut for Mac as he caught his defender sleeping and skied to bring down Angel’s lob with one hand.

Count them… FOUR defenders:

What’s most impressive about this alley-oop is just how high Mac gets. His hand nearly reaches the top of the inner square which is an additional 18 inches above the rim. Also, LOOK HOW HIGH THE BALL BOUNCED AFTER IT WENT THROUGH THE RIM. What did that poor ball ever do to you, Sheldon?
