Vock Named All-American in 3-Meter at NCAAs
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Thea Vock earned the second All-America recognition of her career Friday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, taking fifth place in the 3-meter event at the 2015 NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships.
Vock, who finished third in the “B” final of the 1-meter event on Friday night for Honorable Mention honors, ended with 371.20 points in the 3-meter. She qualified for the finals with a score of 348.30 in the morning’s preliminary round in Greensboro.
Senior Cheyenne Cousineau also performed well in the finals, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors with a third-place finish in the “B” final. The former Big 10 Champion at Ohio State, who transferred to Miami for her final years of eligibility, finished with 357.60 points.
The All-America honor caps a dominant career for Vock, who rebounded from labrum surgery that forced her to miss the entire 2012-13 season. The Clermont, Fla., native earned her first career All-America honors as a redshirt junior at last year’s NCAA Championships, and took silver in
both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at this past season’s ACC Swimming & Diving Championships in Atlanta.
Cousineau and freshman Wally Layland are slated compete in the NCAA Championships platform event on Saturday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
