@MiamiTrack Opens Indoors at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The University of Miami track and field program will open its indoor season Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge.

After training all fall, Miami director of track and field/cross country Amy Deem and her student-athletes are excited for the start of the 2015 season.

“We are really excited to open our season at Penn State this weekend,” Deem said. “It is a great venue and will let us gauge where we are as a team. After a strong fall of training, our team cannot wait to compete.”

2014 ACC Indoor Freshman of the Year Shakima Wimbley is expected to lead a gifted group this weekend at Penn State that also features 2014 All-ACC Indoor performers Jamika Glades, Taneisha Cordell, Kelsey Balkwill and Lea Johnson.

On the men’s side, All-ACC thrower Gian Piero Ragonesi will look to open his 2015 season with a strong showing, while highly touted freshmen Robert Grant, Jaalen Jones and Henri Delauze headline a talented group of newcomers.

The 2015 Nittany Lion Invitational is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST with the women’s weight throw and the mixed mile run. The women’s 4x400m relay will close out the meet, beginning at 4:35 p.m. EST.
