Miami Lands Five on Phil Steele All-ACC Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team placed five players on the 2014 Phil Steele Midseason All-ACC team this past week.
Junior running back Duke Johnson (Miami, Fla.) and senior Denzel Perryman (Coral Gables, Fla.) were both named First Team, while senior wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), senior tight end Clive Walford (Belle Glade, Fla.) and junior offensive lineman Ereck Flowers (Miami, Fla.) were tabbed Second Team.
Johnson earned the all-league honor following a strong start to his junior campaign, rushing for a team-best 787 yards (7.2 yards per carry). He also leads the team with six rushing touchdowns.
Perryman picked up the First Team honor after leading the team in tackles with 51 stops through seven games. He also has 4.0 tackles for loss and three pass deflections.
Dorsett picked up Second Team accolades thanks to a strong start to the 2014 season, leading the squad with 550 yards receiving, averaging 34.4 yards per catch. He also leads the team with six touchdown receptions.
Walford added to his list of midseason honors by being named Second Team. He received the honor after leading the team in receptions with 23. Earlier this week, he was named to the Mackey Award Midseason Watch List.
Flowers was selected to the squad after anchoring an offensive line unit that has paved the way for Hurricane running backs to rush for 162.1 yards per game.
