Lomacki To Play at All-American Championships
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Piotr Lomacki will be representing the University of Miami men’s tennis team at the prestigious Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., from Sept. 27-Oct. 2.
Lomacki, a native of Warsaw, Poland, qualified due to his ranking of No. 794 in ATP singles. He is also ranked as the No. 6 rookie in the country, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Men’s Preseason Newcomer/Freshman Rankings.
“Piotr has a very complete game,” head coach Mario Rincon said. “He can generate a lot power from anywhere on the court. He’s an amazing competitor, and he is a hard worker with a lot of weapons. He’s fast and he has great hands at the net.”
The freshman has already found success in the 2014-15 season. Lomacki won his first collegiate career singles match last weekend at the Olympia Fields Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill., as well as winning his first career doubles match while playing alongside senior Wilfredo Gonzalez.
