The Game
The No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes face No. 7 seed NC State on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the second round of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
The Series
Miami is 7-10 in the all-time series against NC State, which dates back to the 1939-40 season. The Canes are 3-4 against the Wolfpack at home, 1-0 at neutral sites and 2-6 on the road. Miami has won three of the last four matchups against NC State and split the season series with the Wolfpack this year.
The ACC Tournament
Miami won the 2013 ACC Tournament, defeating Boston College (69-58), then NC State (81-71) and North Carolina (87-77) in the championship game. The Hurricanes are 11-8 in ACC Tournament play and have advanced past the first round of competition in eight of 10 seasons, including five-straight.

Miami in the ACC Tournament
Miami won the ACC Tournament in 2013, defeating North Carolina, 87-77, in the championship game.
Miami is the only team not from the state of North Carolina to win both the ACC regular season and ACC tournament titles.

The Miami – NC State Series
Miami split the season series with the Wolfpack, losing at home on February 8, 56-55 then winning on the road, 85-70, on March 1.
Miami had their highest total offensive output in 2013-14 against NC State, scoring 85 points in their road win on March 1. It was their highest total since the ACC Championship game in 2013 against North Carolina (87 points).
Tonye Jekiri registered a career high 13 rebounds against NC State on March 1st en route to his first career double-double. He added 14 points that game.
Miami defeated NC State in the 2013 tournament, 81-71, to reach the championship game. Durand Scott led all scorers with 32 points, the last time a Miami player scored 30 or more.
Miami has played NC State twice in the ACC tournament, defeating them in 2012-13 and 2007-08. Both victories were double-digit wins for the Canes.
Rion Brown Named Third Team All-Conference
Senior Rion Brown was selected to the All-ACC Third Team by both the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) and the league’s head coaches. Brown ended the season as the ACC’s eighth-best scorer, seventh in field goal percentage, eighth in 3-point percentage, tied for eighth in 3-pointers made per game and ninth in minutes played.
Miami Faces VT and NC State for Third Time
Miami’s first two rounds of the ACC Tournament are against opponents the Canes will end up playing three times this season.
The Canes are 1-1 against NC State so far this season. This is the second-straight season Miami will face NC State in its second game of the tournament. UM defeated the Wolfpack on its way to the 2013 ACC Tournament Championship.
Miami lost twice to Virginia Tech during the regular season, then defeated the Hokies at the ACC Tournament in the first round.

Larrañaga in ACC Play
Since his arrival in 2011, Jim Larrañaga has recorded two of the top three win totals in ACC play in Miami history with 15-3 in 2013 and 9-7 in 2012. Miami’s other ACC high was eight wins in 2007-08.This year’s 7-11 mark ties with three other seasons of seven wins.
Canes Turn it Around in Second Half of ACC Slate
After opening the ACC schedule 0-6 at home, the Canes won their last three league contests at the BankUnited Center.
In Miami’s first nine ACC games:
Miami posted a 2-7 record, 0-5 at home, 2-2 on the road.
Erik Swoope and Raphael Akpejiori started zero games.
Miami shot 39.5 percent FG, 32.9 percent 3FG and 61.1 FT.
The Canes averaged 55.6 PPG.
In Miami’s last nine ACC games:
Miami posted a 5-4 record, 3-1 at home, 2-3 on the road.
Erik Swoope starts eight games, Raphael Akpejiori seven.

Lecomte’s Freshman Scoring Best Since Scott
Rookie Manu Lecomte finished the regular season averaging 7.9 points per game, the highest total by a freshman since Durand Scott averaged 10.3 in 2009-10.
Guard Strong
Miami’s offensive output in ACC games comes primarily from the guard position, as four guards have combined for 39.4 points per game while five forwards total 21.0 points per outing.
Guards: Rion Brown (16.1), Garrius Adams (10.3), Manu Lecomte (8.2), Davon Reed (4.8).
Forwards: Donnavan Kirk (5.8), Erik Swoope (6.1), James Kelly (4.2), Tonye Jekiri (4.1) and Raphael Akpejiori (0.8).
Seasons of Change
Miami will face back-to-back seasons with roster turnover after losing six players from the 2012-13 ACC Championship season, then six more seniors (5 scholarship) after this 2013-14 campaign.
