S&D Ends Successful Run at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Miami Hurricanes swimming and diving team wrapped up a successful run at the 2014 ACC Championships Saturday, capping its trip with a medal in every single diving event across the three-day tournament.

Cheyenne Cousineau and Tanner Wilfong ended a tremendous run for Miami divers Saturday, as both Cousineau and Wilfong took second in their respective platform final events.

Wilfong earned a silver medal with a final score of 466.1, while Cousineau’s 311.85 points put her just behind Katrina Young of Florida State.

Platform performances Saturday continued an impressive trend for Miami divers, who dominated the competition throughout the weekend. Sam Dorman pulled in two medals – both silvers in the 3-meter and 1-meter – Kara McCormack took silver in the 3-meter, Lindsay Lester earned her first medal with a third-place showing in the 3-meter, and Thea Vock took second in the 1-meter.

The ACC medals were the career-first for both Cousineau and Wilfong. Two more medals brought Miami’s total to seven pieces of hardware at the 2014 ACC Championships.

The Miami women ended the ACC Championships in ninth with 470.5 points, while the men finished third with a score of 156.

The Hurricanes prepare next for the NCAA Zone Diving qualifiers, to be held in Greensboro, N.C. from March 10-12.
