@MiamiTrack Hosts Local Youth Clinic

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field program hosted members of the Miami-Dade Police Athletic League in a fun-filled track clinic at Cobb Stadium.

The Canes welcomed over 100 members of the Miami-Dade PAL to their home stadium Saturday. Miami’s coaching staff and student-athletes spent time teaching the clinic attendees about the importance of hard work and education, as well as physical fitness.

“We are very excited to have the Miami-Dade Police Athletic League on campus,” Miami director of track & field/cross country Amy Deem said. “I think it is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to interact with the local youth and give back to the community.”

The PAL athletes ran through several stations that taught them the fundamentals of track and field. The kids, who ranged from ages 8-12, participated in sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws and distance training.

After spending most of the morning working out, the PAL athletes had lunch while getting to know the Miami track and field student-athletes.

“These kids look up to our student-athletes and today provided them with an opportunity to spend time with some of their favorite Canes.”
