Men's Tennis Set to Play in FGCU Invite
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., this weekend to compete in the FGCU Eagle Fall Invitational which will run from Friday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 27.
In addition to Miami and FGCU, Barry University, FAU, UCF, University of Arkansas and Boston College will be competing in this year’s tournament held at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
The tournament will be a compass draw, where every player will be guaranteed to play at least three matches. There will be three singles draws with consolation play and two doubles draws. Play each day begins at 9 a.m.
Former Cane, Victor Mauz made an impact in the tournament last year, making it to the singles semifinals. Jack Murphy and Henrique Tsukamoto got more comfortable with college competition, defeating their opponents in the singles back draw.
The experienced junior, Tsukamoto, leads the team this year with four singles wins. Followed by Omar Aly, Wilfredo Gonzalez, Diego Soto, and Bernard Tefel, with two singles wins apiece. The team is looking to improve these stats further this weekend.
