The Canes’ winning streak started with senior Flores defeating Nick Wood of Georgia, 7-6(2), 6-3. Tsukamoto followed suit with a win against Ignacio Gonzalez of USF, 6-3, 4-6. 6-3. No. 9-16 Diego Soto also defeated his competitor, Tianyu Bao of FGCU, 6-1, 7-5.

Great tennis lingered among the Hurricanes as Gonzalez finished strong to win his match against Eric Diaz of Georgia, 6-4, 6-2 and Albanese came back resiliently in the third set to overtake Dean Tsamas of FGCU, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.

Despite Aly’s solid effort, No. 9-16 Garrett Brasseaux of Georgia defeated him, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.

The main draw doubles took place in the afternoon where Aly and Gonzalez defeated Albert Codina Sala and Marco Osorio of Georgia Southern, 8-2.

Murphy and Albanese fought a tight game until the end with Jorge Wilton and Maksim Yorsh of Kennesaw State. The Canes duo came up just short, losing, 9-8(5) in a tiebreak. Flores and Soto met the same fate when playing the No. 3 pair of Garrett Brasseaux and Nathan Pasha of Georgia (8-3).

Aly and Gonzalez moved on to the main draw round of 16, where they played No. 6 Gordon Watson and Elliott Orkin of UF, coming up just short in the match, with a final score of 8-5.

In an extra round-robin doubles match, Tsukamoto and Tefel played hard but fell twice, first to Jake Albo and Joao Gauer of FSU (8-6), then Simon Pritchard and Jake Bouchillon of Kennesaw State (8-5).
