Aly Provides Victory For @CanesMensTennis

TULSA, Okla. – University of Miami senior Omar Aly provided a consolation bracket victory Sunday at the 2013 Saint Francis ITA Men’s All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Aly, who fought valiantly in a Saturday loss, found the winning touch against Tuomas Manner of St. Mary’s, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Despite dropping the first set, Aly dominated the latter two and took the match in the pre-qualifying singles bonus match.

William Albanese, who also participated in Sunday’s consolation bracket, lost his match to Ignacio Gonzales-Muniz of South Florida. Albanese battled throughout the 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 loss, one day after his first-round loss.

Junior Wilfredo Gonzalez and senior Diego Soto will represent the Canes in the qualifying matches tomorrow, Sept. 30.

The 2013 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships attracts some of the top players from around the country. Miami has four participants competing for the first men’s national title of the fall season.
