Cross Country Set for UF Mountain Dew Invite
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami cross country program is back in action on Saturday at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational.
The Canes, who had Lindsi Arrington and JaCee Jarnagin each finish second in their respective races at the WA Collegiate Invitational, will look to their veterans to set the pace in Gainesville.
“I’m expecting both of them to lead us again this weekend,” Miami distance coach Damon Griffiths said. “We will be running Alaine Tate this weekend on the women’s side. On the men’s side, we are looking to have the same consistency up to from JaCee, Sean [Pezzulo] and Luke [Fontaine]. Hopefully a couple of guys will step up and contribute, as well.”
Both the men’s and women’s teams finished second at the WA Collegiate Invitational two weeks ago. Griffiths wants to see his runners take another step forward this weekend against a more challenging field.
“My expectations for this weekend are to have a strong showing in our second meet,” Griffiths said. “We have some very competitive teams at this meet and we want to be able to put ourselves in a position to be regionally ranked and show we can compete at a high level against teams from the SEC and State of Florida.”
