CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Five members of the University of Miami rowing program were named to the All-ACC Academic Team Friday.
Hannah Hawks, Breanna Hayton, Katalin Horvath, Katie Stanzilis and Nichole Zayan were among the 37 student-athletes honored by the conference for their athletic and academic achievements. Hayton, a junior aerospace engineering major, and Horvath, who graduated with a degree in marine science, were Miami’s two most decorated rowers this season. Both were named CRCA All-Region and All-ACC. Like Hawks, Hayton was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
Stanzilis, who graduated with a degree in mathematics in May, was a senior leader on the 2V8+ crew this past season. The Miami native helped her crew place second at the 2013 ACC Championships and third at the 2012 Head of the Hooch.
Zayan joined Stanzilis on the 2V8+ crew that placed third at the ACC Championships. The junior biomedical engineering major was one of four Miami rowers to earn CRAC National Scholar-Athlete distinction this year, joining Hawks, Hayton and Hannah Meister.
