Summer Golf Update: Park, Darquea Shine
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Rika Park, Christina Ocampo and incoming freshman Daniela Darquea have been competing on the links this summer.
Earlier this week, Park competed at the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla. The Japan product shot shot 7-over 149, including a first-round 70, to tie for 34th during the stroke play portion. She later lost 2 & 1 to Jade Staggs in the first round of match play.
Ocampo fell 2 & 1 to Christine Wong in the Championship Flight Round of 64 at the 113th WWGA National Amateur Championship in Dayton, Ohio.
Darquea, an incoming freshman from Ecuador, tied for fourth at the AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes, held June 3-6 in Garden City, Kan. She shot 8-over 152, firing rounds of 73 and 79.
This week at the Under Armour/Steve Marino Championship in Weston, Fla., Darquea carded a 1-under 215 to own a share of the lead through three rounds. She was bested in a one-hole playoff by Dylan Kim.
