Donnavan Kirk Rejoins MBB Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Donnavan Kirk has rejoined the University of Miami basketball program after two seasons at DePaul, and will complete his fifth year of eligibility in 2013-14.
“We are excited to welcome Donnavan back to the University of Miami,” said Coach Jim Larrañaga. “He is an experienced front court player who excels at running the floor, blocking shots, and scoring in a variety of ways. Donnavan is passionate about the University of Miami and we look forward to working with him as he pursues his master’s degree.”
Kirk, who began his collegiate career with the Hurricanes in 2009, was ranked among the top 30 power forwards in the country out of Detroit Country Day. The Pontiac, Mich., native competed in 17 games over two seasons with the Hurricanes before transferring in 2011.
Kirk played in 23 games in 2011-12, averaging 5.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. The 6-foot-9 forward enjoyed a breakout season in his final year with the Blue Demons in 2012-13, starting 30 of 31 games and leading the team with 50 blocks. He finished the year averaging 6.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
