MTennis Finishes Season in Nation's Top-55
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team earned a final ranking of No. 55 in the last ITA poll for the 2012-13 season. The Hurricanes, who never fell out of the nation’s top-75 this season, finished the season with a 13-13 dual record.
Miami plays in the premier conference in collegiate tennis. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) featured 10 nationally-ranked schools, including the 2013 national champion Virginia Cavaliers, in the ITA poll throughout the 2012-13 season. The Canes were ranked as high as No. 50 this season and notched key victories against then-No. 63 Georgia Tech, 4-3, and a 7-0 sweep over Boston College.
Individually, sophomore Wilfredo Gonzalez led the team with five ACC wins, including an impressive victory over No. 58 Ryan Shane of top-ranked Virginia. Junior Gabriel Flores finished second on the team in conference wins with four victories, followed by juniors Marco Stancati and Diego Soto with three each.
