Williams, Dorsett to Rep Track at Clemson
CLEMSON, S.C. – Two talented student-athletes will represent the University of Miami track and field program at the Bob Pollock Invitational this weekend.
Senior All-American Samantha Williams will compete in the women’s triple jump, scheduled for noon on May 4. Williams, who is set to graduate next week with a degree in economics, will try to post a mark that will qualify her for the NCAA Championships. The Jamaica native set a season-best in the triple jump at Florida Relays, posting a mark of 12.53m.
“We thought this would be a great opportunity for Sam to compete before graduation,” Miami director of track and field and cross country Amy Deem said.
Dorsett makes his return to the track after participating in spring football for most of the outdoor season. The standout wide receiver will trade his football cleats for sprinter spikes and run the men’s 100m dash. Preliminaries are scheduled for 12:15 p.m., with the finals set to start at 1:25 p.m. on Clemson’s Rock Norman Outdoor Track.
“It’s great to have Phillip back after football,” Deem said. “We are looking forward to seeing how he does in his return to track.”
