The Canes to Compete in Knecht Cup

April 13, 2012

CORAL GABLES, Fla.—This weekend the University of Miami rowing team travels to the Cooper River Course in Camden, N.J., where they compete in their third Knecht Cup on April 14 and April 15.

“It has become a really good regatta to measure the team’s progress,” said Head Coach Andrew Carter. “They’re keenly aware of how the squad did last year and how it did the year before that. There’s no doubt they’re motivated to improve this year.”

This is the team’s final race before taking part in the ACC Championships on April 21. Miami’s ACC competitors from Duke, Boston College and the University of North Carolina will also take part in this year’s Knecht Cup. “This will provide us with valuable lessons we need as we make final preparations for the Conference Championship,” added Carter.

The Knecht Cup is hosted each year by Villanova University, and approximately 40 programs will be in attendance. For a schedule of events, click here. Results will be posted at the end of the regatta on the Hurricanesports.com website.
