Hurricane Duo Named to 2011 All-ACC Academic Football Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.— Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced the 52-member 2011 All-ACC Academic Football Team Wednesday and two Canes are among the honorees.

Redshirt senior Mike Williams and junior Brandon McGee are among the football student-athletes bestowed academic honors for their performance in the classroom. Williams, a defensive back, started all 12 games for the Canes, making 29 stops on the season, two tackles for loss of six yards, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery. McGee started all 12 games, made 38 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards, one sack, an interception for 15 yards and two pass breakups all at defensive back.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 12 ACC schools were represented by at least one selection on the team. The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
