The Game
Miami, on a five-game winning streak, hits the road for its next four games, beginning with the Dec. 18 matchup at UCF in Orlando, Fla., followed by three games in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu Dec. 22-25.
The SeriesMiami is 6-1 against UCF in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1986-87 campaign. The Hurricanes are 4-0 at home against UCF and 2-0 on the road. Miami’s one loss came in the most recent game against the Knights, on Dec. 18, 2010, played at the Orange Bowl Classic, ending in an 84-78 UCF victory.

In 2005-06 Miami was receiving votes in both preseason polls, with 16 from the AP and six in the USA TODAY listing.
Larkin Improves in Year TwoSophomore Shane Larkin has drastically improved his scoring in his second year with the Canes, averaging 15.3 ppg through six games. A season ago, he was only posting 8.3 points per night.
Canes Win Five Straight GamesMiami has won five straight games after beginning the season 1-1. UM’s last five-game winning streak was last season when the Canes downed Georgia Tech, Boston College, Maryland, Duke and Virginia Tech from Jan. 24-Feb. 9. UM started the 2009-10 season 15-1 in 2009-10 with an 8-0 record to start, then seven straight wins from Dec. 12, 2009 – Jan. 9 2010.
Scott is Mr. ConsistentIn four games this season, Durand Scott has scored at least 15 points each outing, hitting six field goals and going 3-of-4 at the stripe in three of those games. He has at least two assists and his rebounds have improved from five vs. Detroit, to six vs. MSU, seven at UMass and 12 vs. Charlotte. Scott posted his first double-double of the season (third of his career) with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Charlotte.
Johnson Nearing 1,000 PointsReggie Johnson has totalled 937 career points in four seasons for the Canes. He’ll be the 34th Cane to top the 1,000 point plateau, joining teammate Durand Scott on the list.
