CORAL GABLES, FL — After an unexpected open-date due to the cancellationof last weekend’s UCLA game due to the threat of Hurricane Georges, theUniversity of Miami football team returned to Greentree Practice Fieldtoday and began preparing for Saturday’s BIG EAST clash at Rutgers.Practicing in full pads, the Hurricanes used the two-hour session to workin position groups before breaking into team drills.
“Practice was good today,” said coach Butch Davis. “I like thechemistry of our team. These guys work hard. They come to workevery day with blue collars and hard hats. They go out and push andchallenge each other, and are taking a positive approach to getting betterever day.”
UM fans wanting to get an inside look at the Hurricanes are encouragedto be a part of the studio audience for this week’s taping of the ButchDavis Television Show, and the live, weekly radio show “Hurricane Hotline.”
The Butch Davis Show, which airs every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on WPLGChannel 10 and on SportsChannel, will be taped at Shula’s Steak2 in MiamiLakes Thursday at noon.
Hurricane Hotline, a two-hour, weekly call-in show featuring Davisand athletic director Paul Dee is conducted on location at the LonghornSteakhouse, 1630 N.W. 87th Ave. (a.k.a. Galloway).
The Hotline can be heard on WINZ, 940 AM, Miami, every Thursday from6-8 p.m.
