CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s women’s swimmingand diving team finished in second place at the Miami Relay Carnival Fridayat the Whitten Student Union Pool on the UM Campus. The Lady Panthersof the University of Pittsburgh won the event, while the Arkansas Razorbacksclaimed third place.

The Hurricanes placed first in the 4×50 fly relay (1:49.22), 4×50 breaststrokerelay (2:07.71), 200 medley relay (1:51.91), 4×100 IM relay (4:09.34)),and 4×25 medley (51.53). Junior Janel Benda and senior Emily Spychala’scombined scores earned the Hurricanes first place finishes in the 1-meter(530.85) and 3-meter diving (526.35) events.

The women’s squad is now (3-1) and looks to improve its record tomorrowin a dual meet versus the Razorbacks at the Student Union Pool beginningat 11:00 a.m.
