CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Head Diving Coach Randy Ablemanwill be one of 29 coaches honored at the 33rd Annual National Associationof Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention on June 15 in Marco Island,FL.

The NACDA and the U.S. Olympic Committee will present special medalsto Olympic coaches whose teams or individual athletes won medals at the1996 Olympic Games or the 1994 or 1998 Olympic Winter Games. Ablemanserved as co-head coach of the 1996 U.S. Diving Team that won two bronzemedals.

Ableman is lauded as one of the nation’s top diving authorities.In his ninth season as coach of the Hurricane diving team, Ableman hascoached 24 All-Americans and ten individual champions. This seasonhe was named NCAA Diving Coach of the Year for the sixth time.

In 1996, Ableman coached seven athletes at the U.S. Olympic Trials.Among his pupils were Scott Donie, who won the 3-meter event and proceededto finish fourth at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.Ableman also served as head coach for the U.S. diving squad at the 1997World University Games.
