Five Hurricane Divers Chasing Olympic Dreams

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — For five University of Miami divers, a cross-country flight to Washington and the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center could mark the first leg to the most thrilling summers of their aquatic careers.
Samuel Dorman, Carrie Dragland, Lindsay Lester, Kara McCormack and Brittany Viola are just a few of the 120 divers who have converged upon The Evergreen State in an effort to secure their spots on the 14-member United States Olympic diving team.
The event, which showcases the best diving in America, will serve as the final team selection competition for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Preliminaries for synchronized competition began Sunday, June 17, while the final rounds of competition will take place Sunday, June 24.
The Trials include men’s and women’s 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, along with men’s and women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform competition.
Joining the five Hurricanes in Washington include three-time Olympian Troy Dumais, 2011 World platform silver medalist David Boudia, and 2008 Olympians Kelci Bryant, Chris Colwill, Thomas Finchum, Haley Ishimatsu and Christina Loukas. For a full list of competing divers, click HERE.
NBC will televise a total of five hours of live coverage on Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24. The trials will also receive nine hours of live and tape delayed coverage on NBC Sports Network beginning Tuesday, June 19 through Friday, June 22. For the full television schedule, click HERE.
