Amber Monroe Set to Compete at USA Junior Trials

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Amber Monroe of the University of Miami will compete in the women’s discus throw at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the University of Indiana. The competition will be held at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex and will showcase some of the best young talent in the county.
The meet will serve as a qualifier to the IAAF World Junior Championships as the top performers will represent Team USA in Barcelona, Spain from July 10-15. Fans will be treated to a glimpse of the future of USA Track & Field as the best high school standouts and the most promising college freshmen face off at one of America’s premier venues.
Monroe most recently competed in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships last week in Des Moines, Iowa. The highlight of her season came during the Penn Relays in April as she won the discus with a throw of 168′ 9″/51.67m. The freshman is set to compete at 5:45 p.m. EST on Friday in the finals of the event.
