Miami's Lileikite Names ACC Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami freshman Lina Lileikite has been named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, and award she shares with Duke’s Hanna Mar.
Lilekite broke into the ITA singles rankings this past week at No. 118, and the Liepaja, Latvia native continued her recent success in this past weekend’s matches against the University of North Florida and Clemson. The Hurricanes won both matches 7-0 and 5-2 respectively. and Lileikite was undefeated in both singles and doubles play.
The tandem of Lileikite and Gabriela Mejia bested UNF’s Simona Weymar and Rebeca Pereira on Saturday and Clemson’s Romy Koelzer and Beatrice Gumulya on Sunday, both at the No. 2 doubles position.
In singles play, the freshman took down Danielle Day of UNF in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Then on Sunday, she earned the Hurricanes first singles point of the day against ACC rival Clemson in a dominating (6-2, 6-1) performance against 103rd-ranked Nelly Ciolkowski at No. 3.
Lileikite is still undefeated in singles on the year, with a record of 9-0. In addition, she boasts only one loss in doubles contention with a record of 10-1.
