Hill and Williams to compete at NCAAs

March 6, 2012

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Capping off the 2012 indoor season will be the NCAA Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho, which is being held on the campus of Boise State University March 9-10. The University of Miami men’s and women’s track and field teams will be represented at the championships by seniors Devon Hill and Tarika Williams.

Hill was named an All-American at last year’s indoor championships in the 60-meter hurdles after he placed third with his school-record time of 7.67 seconds. This year he will look to provide a similar finish, having placed second at the ACC Championships two weeks ago with a season-best time of 7.71. That time currently ranks him eighth nationally.

Williams will be making her second trip to the NCAA Championships after qualifying last year in the 200 meters. After winning the ACC title in the 200 meters and placing fourth in the 60 meters last year, Williams returned to finish second in the 200 meters and fourth in the 60 meters at this year’s ACC meet. Williams goes into the championships ranked 12th in the 60 meters and 20th in the 200 meters nationally.

The men’s 60-meter hurdles prelims begin on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the women’s 60 meters prelims beginning at 6:45 p.m. The women’s 200 meter prelims begin at 7:45 p.m. with a same-day final at 9 p.m.
