Defense Hits the NFL Combine Stage

INDIANAPOLIS–Monday’s edition of the NFL Combine featured the defense’s front seven, including three Miami Hurricanes. Defensive linemen Marcus Forston and Olivier Vernon and linebacker Sean Spence showcased their talents for the upcoming NFL Draft.
The trio finished the day with several top performances in their position group, including two top-five finishes. Vernon’s broad jump of 119.0 inches was the fourth-best effort by linemen on the day and Forston’s 35 reps in the bench press was the fifth best of the group.
Vernon also showed his explosiveness running the 40-yard dash in 4.80 seconds and reaching a height of 34.5 inches in the vertical jump for the ninth and seventh-best performances on the day. When it was time for the linebackers to audition, Spence completed the 20-yard shuffle drill in 4.28 seconds to rank as the seventh-best time of the group. His broad jump was just outside of the top 10, leaping 119.0 inches for the 11-best performance on the day.

Monday marked the final day of interviews for the eight Canes who were invited to the NFL Combine.
The NFL’s annual draft will take place on April 24-26.
