CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami has announced its 2012 football schedule and, for the third time in the last four seasons, the Canes will open up against a conference foe, this time at Boston College on Sept. 1.
Hurricanes fans will also see the return of one of college football’s most intense rivalries as the Canes head to Chicago to face Notre Dame at famed Soldier Field on Oct. 6. It will be the first regular season meeting between the two teams since 1990.
Miami will travel to Kansas State on Sept. 8 to wrap up the home-and-home series that saw the Wildcats visit Sun Life Stadium a season ago.
In their home opener on Sept. 15, the Hurricanes will face Bethune-Cookman for the second consecutive season, before returning to their conference slate at Georgia Tech on Sept. 22.
After a three-year hiatus, Miami will play host to ACC Atlantic Division foe NC State on Sept. 29 before heading north to face Notre Dame the following week.
Head Coach Al Golden and his Canes will then remain home for a season-long three-game homestand, with each contest pitting the team against a conference opponent.
New North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora will bring his Tar Heels into Sun Life Stadium on Oct. 13. The following week, the Hurricanes will square off against rival Florida State on Oct. 20.
After a bye week, reigning ACC Coastal Division Champion Virginia Tech will pay a visit to Miami for a Thursday night tilt on Nov. 1.
Two of the final three games for the Canes will be on the road, as they travel to Charlottesville, Va. on Nov. 10 to face Head Coach Mike London and his Cavaliers, then again to face Duke in the team’s regular season-finale on Nov. 24.
Sandwiched in between the conference road games will be Miami’s Senior Day game against the Bulls of USF; the game will mark the fourth straight season in which the two teams have met.
The ACC Championship Game, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. for the third straight year.
Kick-off times along with television information will be released at later dates.
