Benjamin Clocks Fastest Time at NFL Combine
Feb. 26, 2012
INDIANAPOLIS–It was “Showoff Sunday” at the NFL Combine today and the four Canes working out did just that. Quarterback Jacory Harris, wide receivers Travis Benjamin and Tommy Streeter and running back Lamar Miller all had stellar performances, including the top 40 time and second-best vertical leap.
Benjamin was one of the stars of the day, clocking the fastest 40 time of the 2012 NFL Combine. The 5-10, 172-pound wide receiver blazed the track with a time of 4.36. Georgia Tech’s Stephen Hill and Stanford’s Chris Owusu also ran a 4.36 as the trio leads all prospects after two days of auditions. Joining Benjamin as some of the fastest prospects were Miller and Streeter who each ran a 4.40–the sixth-fastest time of the Combine.
Benjamin and Streeter also earned “Top Performer” status in the vertical and broad jumps, respectively. Benjamin reached a height of 38 inches in the vertical jump while Streeter leaped 10’5″ for the eighth-best jump of the Combine.
Among the quarterbacks, Harris was a top performer, running the fifth-fastest 40 time of the group with a 4.72. He also had the second-best vertical leap (37.0 inches) and sixth-best broad jump (9’5″).
The NFL’s interview process continues on Monday with the linebackers and defensive linemen running the 40 and testing in the measurable drills. Sean Spence, Marcus Forston and Olivier Vernon will be in the spotlight beginning at 9 a.m.
