Day Two Results Get Acrobat Reader

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Kelsi Hall and sophomore Thea Vock headlined another impressive day for Miami at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Blacksburg, Va. at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Thursday.

K. HallHall, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle, capped off the night with a career-best 22.03 finish in the event, earning a gold medal for her efforts. Virginia Cavalier Lauren Perdue, the 2010 conference champion in the same event, came in second in 22.17, while Maryland junior Megan Lafferty touched the wall in third in 22.50.

Vock earned the second bronze medal of the conference championships for the Canes with her impressive showing in the 1-meter diving event. The Clermont, Fla. native finished with a 318.55 score in the contest, while teammates Lindsay Lester (311.40, fifth place) and Kara McCormack (294.85, seventh) came up a few dives short of medal-winning performances.

The Canes women, after a strong two days of swimming and diving, moved up five spots to a tie for fourth place with host Virginia Tech through Event 23 at the ACC’s.

Men’s diver Samuel Dorman just missed out on a placing performance of his own, finishing the 3-meter dive in fourth place (392.95). 

The championship continues Friday at 11 a.m. with the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke preliminaries, with the finals in those events on Friday night at 7 p.m. The women’s three-meter diving prelims start 1 p.m. with the finals at 7 p.m. The men’s one-meter prelims are at 3:15 p.m. and the finals start at 5 p.m.
