CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Freshmen Leticia Ras-Anderica was the University of Miami’s top final-round performer as the Hurricanes finished 11th at the UCF Challenge at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla., on Tuesday (Feb. 14).
The Canes entered the final day in tenth after carding a nine-over 297 Monday. The Hurricanes shot a 308 in the final round to finish 11th with a three round score of 906. Auburn kept the lead in the third round to win the tournament with a score of 294; they ended the three rounds of play with a score of 863. Baylor was second with a score of 865 and Tulane finished third with 866. Host UCF (873) and Augusta State (879) rounded out the top five.
Miami’s top ten finisher freshman Leticia Ras-Anderica from Moraira-Teulada, Spain, tied for seventh with Haley Wilson of Auburn, carding rounds of 72-71-74–217 for the tournament. Freshmen Rika Park from Fujieda Shi-Shizouka, Japan, scored a 75-72-78–225 and ended tied 43rd.
Senior Jennifer Hirano from Pinole, Calif., was tied for 68th after a Tuesday 6-over-par 78. Sophomore Carina Cuculiza from Managua, Nicaragua, shot an 8-over-par 80 in the final round. Cuculiza finished in 84th with a score of 236. Freshmen Shannon Pak from New Orleans, La., shot her best round of the tournament firing a 6-over-par 78. Pak finished the UCF Challenge in the 95th spot scoring a 243 total.
The UCF Challenge was a 54-hole stroke play tournament played at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. The par 72 course played at 6,374 yards for the tournament. The 18-team field featured five teams ranked in the top 25 in one major poll.
The Canes will be back in action on February 27 in the Sir Pizza CARDS CHALLENGE.
