CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami will host a free clinic for girls on Feb. 5, in honor of the 26th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day acknowledges the history of women in sports and the continuing fight for equality by women’s sports. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs.

University of Miami student-athletes from a variety of women’s sports, as well as the cheerleading and dance teams, will interact with participants and teach them a number of skills from their respective sports.

The clinic will take place at 12 p.m. in the Fieldhouse at the BankUnited Center on University of Miami’s campus and is opened to all girls in the seventh grade and younger. Groups must register online by January 30 to participate.  Groups of 20 or more will receive complimentary admission to the basketball game.  Individuals may walk-up and register on the day of the event.  Due to NCAA regulations all clinic participants must be in the 7th grade or under.
