WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Flashback: UM track standout and Olympian Lauryn Williams will compete in the 60m at the Birmingham Invitational. Williams will run unattached.
Records Are Meant to be Broken: Several track athletes set new personal best times at the Kentucky Invitational (1/14/12). Luke Fontaine ran the 3000m in 8:52.87 to mark a new best career time. Fontaine’s previous best was 8:55.19. On the women’s side, senior Tarika Williams dashed to a new personal record 7.30 in the 60m. Sophomore Brooke Dovell completed the one mile race in 5:24.05, four tenths of a second faster than her previous best.
UP NEXT: The Hurricanes are back in action next weekend, Feb. 3-4 at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
