Freshman jumper Innocent Jacob had an impressive showing in his first collegiate meet, finishing fourth in both the men’s high and long jumps at the Kentucky Invitational. The Wood River Junction, R.I. native leaped 6.92 meters in the long jump and cleared 1.99 meters in the high jump.
Eight members of the team are among the top-five performers in the Atlantic Coast Conference in their respective events. Devon Hill (1st; 60mH); Kieron Anthony (5th; 60m); Jennifer Estime (t2nd, 800m); Ashley Holmes (4th, Shot Put); Tameka Jameson (2nd, 400m); Tarika Williams (1st, 60m); Shannon Wright (4th, 400m); women’s 4×400-meter relay team consisting of Jorika Jiles, Jameson, Wright and Williams (3rd).
UP NEXT EVENT: The Canes will continue to train this weekend in preparation for next week’s Birmingham Invitational on January 26.
