Grant Nominated for Bob Cousy Award

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami senior guard Malcolm Grant has been nominated for the Bob Cousy Award, which recognizes the top point guard in the country.

With 35-straight games hitting a three-pointer, senior Malcolm Grant has tied the Miami school record, and is 11th on the ACC list, for consecutive games making a shot from long distance. Earlier this season, Grant joined the 1,000-point club, one of two players on the current team to do so. In non-conference play, Grant notched back-to-back 20-point games and started the season with double-digit scoring in the first seven games.
In 12 games, Grant is averaging 13.9 points per game, ninth-best in the ACC, hitting 2.6 three pointers per game, second-best in the league. The guard is hitting 37.0 percent of his field goals and 35.6 percent from distance, fifth-best in the conference. He is also averaging 1.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 33.1 minutes per game.
The Bob Cousy Award is given to the top collegiate male basketball point guard annually spanning across all divisions within the game by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The selection criteria emphasize leadership, team work, success, and fundamentals as being critical parts for the game of basketball as a point guard. Nominations are solicited from across the country from head coaches and the winner is selected by a Blue Ribbon Selection Committee made up of the biggest names in college basketball.
