Miami's Win Streak Snapped at Seven Games
Sept. 22, 2011
DURHAM, N.C. – The University of Miami women’s soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 4 Duke on Thursday night, ending its program record-tying seven-game win streak at Koskinen Stadium. “Hats off to Duke,” said Miami head coach Tom Anagnost. “They are a great team and when you start the game losing most of your one-v-one battles and aren’t as aggressive or combative as you can be, you can’t be competitive in this conference.” Miami (7-2, 1-1 ACC) battled back in the second half, gaining more possession time, but the home team struck again, as Cobb picked up her second assist of the night on Laura Weinberg’s fourth goal of the season. In all, Alonzo made three saves on the night and sophomore Tara Schwitter paced the offense with a pair of shots. “I am still very proud of our response in the second half,” said Anagnost. “Like all our games, we never quit and we were close to turning the momentum of the game in our favor.” The Canes will look to bounce back against No. 7 Wake Forest on Sunday when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. The University of Miami is also excited to offer a new season ticket package that will include two (2) adult and (3) youth tickets to all home volleyball and soccer events in the 2011 season. The Family plan provides a family of five with over 20 events for the incredible price of $50. To purchase a Volleyball and Soccer Family Plan call 1-800-Go Canes or buy online. |
