Camp Report: Miami Concludes Thursday Two-a-Day Session
Aug. 18, 2011
CORAL GABLES, Fla.—Miami wrapped up its fourth two-a-day of camp Thursday afternoon, holding a two-hour walkthrough session in helmets and shorts on the Greentree Practice Fields. After yet another hot morning practice, the team found some relief with cloudy skies and a slight breeze in the late afternoon hours.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
With the season-opener now less than three weeks out, the Canes began implementing some of their game plan for their match-up against Maryland on Sept. 5 at Byrd Stadium. The team will continue to implement plays and situations over the next few days with the expectation of applying a lot of what they are working on during the team’s second scrimmage, which is scheduled for Monday.
HURNS HAS AN AFTERNOON
Sophomore wideout Allen Hurns had the best day among offensive players in Thursday’s second practice, pulling in everything thrown his way in both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 action. The Miami native made a nice grab on a ball thrown from Jacory Harris early in practice and followed that up with a big-gainer in the middle of the field in 11-on-11 drills.
Overall, it was a good afternoon for the receivers as LaRon Byrd, Kendal Thompkins and Tommy Streeter also came up with a few big plays throughout the course of the afternoon.
