UM NFL Draft Recap: Franklin in 2nd | Harris in 2nd | Hankerson in 3rd | DVD in 3rd | Bailey in 3rd

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Five Canes have now been selected through the first three rounds of the NFL Draft after defensive end Allen Bailey was taken with the 86th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bailey joins a growing list of former Canes to go off the board this year. Orlando Franklin (2nd round to Denver) was the first Cane taken off the board, then came Brandon Harris (2nd round to Houston), Leonard Hankerson (3rd round to Washington) and DeMarcus Van Dyke (81st to Oakland) before Bailey’s selection in the second half of the third round.

Bailey was a four-time letterwinner and two-time All-ACC performer as a Hurricane. The Sapelo, Ga. native closed out his career with 103 total tackles, 31 tackles for a loss and 12 sacks in 50 career games. He also earned the team’s Strength Training Athlete of the Year his final two seasons at Miami.

Bailey joins former teammate Tervaris Johnson on the Chiefs’ roster. He is the 10th Cane to be drafted by Kansas City all-time, with cornerback Marcus Maxey being the last in 2004.
