Practice Report: Spring Game Rosters are Set
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team held their second-to-last practice of the spring Tuesday afternoon on the Greentree Practice Fields. But the biggest news of the day came a few hours earlier, when the rosters were selected for Saturday’s spring game at Lockart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale.
Roster Are Set
The teams for Saturday’s spring game were selected on Tuesday by UM alums Jimmy Farrell (Orlando, Fla.) and Tony Alhadeff (Weston, Fla.), who were awarded the opportunity after winning on online auction through HurricaneSports.com.
Jimmy and Tony sat down with UM’s coordinators (Jimmy with OC Jedd Fisch and Tony with DC Mark D’Onofrio) to make their selections before later attending practice.
The first pick went to Jimmy, who opted to take senior quarterback Jacory Harris for the Orange Team.
“I think he is going to be the leader this year and step up,” Jimmy said. “That is what we need. It is his time and I want to see that in the spring game.”
Tony followed up that pick with the selection of running back Lamar Miller for Team Green.
“After Jacory went, I decided on Lamar,” Tony said. “Lamar is a great back. I wanted to build the offense around him when we were putting it together.
Jimmy then came back with linebacker Sean Spence before Tony countered with wide receiver Travis Benjamin.
“Today was a great opportunity,” Jimmy said. “It was something really special. To see a special team and be behind the scenes like this is amazing.”
Tony agreed.
“As a fan, you can’t imagine a better experience being close to the team and drafting the rosters for the spring game was incredible,” Tony said.

Tuesday’s Practice Recap
– Senior linebacker Jordan Futch made an interception early in the session.
– Lamar Miller scored a pair of touchdowns during inside run drills.
– In fourth quarter drills, Jacory Harris completed passes to redshirt freshmen tight end Clive Walford for 65 and 20 yards, respectively.
The Hurricanes will hold their final practice of the spring Thursday at 2 p.m.
