CORAL GABLES, Fla. –  In its first action against an opponent since new head coach Tom Anagnost took over the Hurricane women’s soccer program in December, Miami played to a 1-1 tie at the Kic’s Sports Complex at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Sunrise, Fla.

Coming off a promising freshman season, Kelley Griffin scored the Hurricane goal in the first of three 30 minute periods, before Florida answered in the third period with a goal of their own.

Miami played well enough to earn the praise of their new coach.

“I think our women played pretty well, especially with it being the first time playing 11 a side,” said Anagnost. “I feel like they did a good job taking the training they received and applying it to the game. I am very interested to see how committed these kids are to getting better every day from here on and if we can do a better job the next time out.”

Miami’s next test will come on April 3 when it is scheduled to face USF in Ft. Myers.
