ANCHORAGE, Alaska – It took 11 hours to get to its destination, but the ninth-ranked University of Miami women’s basketball team made it to the nation’s largest state in the early moring hours on Monday.

After a getting a chance to sleep in and a breakfast of eggs, potatos and bacon, the Hurricanes hopped on the bus and had a 90-minute practice. The Canes ran an up-tempo session to help get the travel out of their legs at West Anchorage High School.

After a quick shower, the women again boarded the bus for a 30-minute ride to try and learn how to dog sled. However, upon their arrival to Chugach State Park, the Hurricanes were told that the trails were too icy for the dogs.

The bad news didn’t discourage the ladies as the spectaular views of Anchorage, Cook Inlet and the Alaska Mountain Range were more than worth the trip.
